A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been shot dead in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country struggling with rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, who went by the name DJ Warras, was gunned down in the city centre on Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old presenter was confronted by three suspects, with one shot at him before fleeing on foot.

Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was departing from a location near the city center landmark.

"The report indicates the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they opened fire at him before running from the location on foot," a police statement stated.
Security camera video reportedly captured a man with dreadlocked hair and clad in what resembled a guard's attire shooting on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but fell down on the opposite side of the road.
Police added that Stock had an gun that was not fired and nothing was taken during the assault.
