Iranian Forces State Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched strikes throughout the Middle East in response for a significant and continuing assault targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area near the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The extent of any impact is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - said they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had intercepted a number of projectiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the offensive on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted locations associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the leadership.
Additional Developments
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israel Defense Forces said it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the projectiles with high efficiency and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," it added.
The statement noted debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some property damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
