The British tennis star earned the most notable win of his career by rebounding from a lost first set to beat world No 1 Carlos Alcaraz 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 in the early stage of the prestigious indoor tournament.

Even though he had earlier overcome Alcaraz on two prior meetings, this victory marks Norrie's first ever success over a sitting world number one.

The British player, seeded 31st in the world, also halted Alcaraz's impressive run of nine finals in a row and 17 consecutive premier event victories, which marked the top run of outcomes in the young champion's developing career.
