The Details Known About the Fatalities of the Bondi Beach Shooting
No fewer than 16 lives perished and more than 40 sustained injuries when gunmen shot at a Hanukah celebration at Bondi Beach, an incident local authorities have labeled a act of terrorism.
As of the newest reports, authorities have announced the number of fatalities is 16, which includes one of the alleged attackers. Moreover, 42 injured people were transported to hospital.
Those who died are yet to be formally identified, but police believe their ages span from 10 and 87 years of age.

Eli Schlanger
Originally from London rabbi Eli Schlanger, 41, was the first victim to be named.
Reportedly a father-of-five, he served as the assistant rabbi at Chabad of Bondi. Relatives and friends spoke of him as “lively, dynamic, and vibrant and a very warm outgoing person who was dedicated to assisting others”.
“How is it possible that a happy rabbi who went to a beach to share joy and positivity, to make the world a better place, meet his end in this way?” a family member said.
Schlanger and his wife had recently celebrated the birth of their newest son in October.
Alexander Kleytman
Alexander Kleytman was also among those killed, as stated by his wife.
She told the events leading up to the attack, stating they had been standing together when the gunfire started. “He shielded me because he wanted to stay near me,” she said.
The husband and wife were both Holocaust survivors, having endured unspeakable terror in their youth. They had subsequently relocated to Australia from Eastern Europe.
Dan Elkayam
The French authorities have announced that French national Dan Elkayam is a casualty.
Officially, a senior official expressed that France stood with his family, the Jewish community, and the Australian people.
“This despicable act is a new, tragic manifestation of a disgusting rise of hatred against Jews that we must put a stop to,” the message read.
One Child
A young girl, aged 10 who was taken to the a children's hospital has been confirmed among the fatalities, police have confirmed.
One Israeli Citizen
One victim from Israel was among those killed during the attack, according to reports citing the Israeli government.
Those Injured
From the 42 people transported to hospitals, many remain receiving treatment, with several in a critical state. The injured include two police officers who attended the scene.
A casualty is a member of the public who rushed to the scene to confront one of the gunmen. Hailed as a hero, he sustained gunshot wounds but is recovering well in hospital.
Arsen Ostrovsky
Among the injured is Arsen Ostrovsky, a public affairs professional. Sources state he was injured and underwent treatment in hospital.
In a message, he described the incident as an “utter carnage,” but also praised the actions of those who came to assist. He stated he felt it was a “miracle” he survived.
Evan Zlatkis
Evan Zlatkis, a media director, was also injured in the shooting. He described he heard “dozens and dozens” of gunshots.
“I thought it was rubber bullets, but it’s gone into my own skin and into my leg,” he explained. “I’ve been shot myself. I received first aid. I’m ok.”
