Public health and economic toll on the approximately 33 million inhabitants residing in the metropolitan zone is substantial, according to numerous investigations.
These hazardous conditions leads to elevated rates of nervous system, cardiovascular and respiratory disorders, and can even lead to oncological diseases.
The pollution is estimated to be accounting for approximately 10k untimely deaths each year in the city.
