Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
Exactly 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film was released, establishing the animation giant as a leading film company and bringing viewers to iconic characters like the cowboy doll (Tom Hanks) and Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), who are now household names.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping fans curious how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview reveals the young girl — who received Andy's toys when he grew up — receiving a latest toy, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the characters seem to view it as a danger intending to supplant them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
One thing the trailer avoids is what Woody is returned with his friends in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a fresh journey with the shepherdess (the actress), traveling with a fair and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will address the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him appear in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have come back with him. And where is the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
